Characteristics
Of all the body's organs, the brain uses a disproportionate share of energy and oxygen, and its neurons are especially prone to oxidative damage. Keeping the brain healthy means addressing both energy metabolism and oxidative stress.
At BIANCA CLINIC, our methylene blue IV drips use medical-grade methylene blue to support brain health, concentration, and mental clarity.
It has traditionally been used to treat certain chemical and drug toxicities, and as a staining agent to help distinguish tissue during surgical and diagnostic procedures.
More recently, methylene blue's mechanism of action — how it works at the cellular level — has drawn attention for other potential roles:
● Supporting energy metabolism by acting on mitochondrial* function
● Acting as an antioxidant, helping protect cells from oxidative stress
● Helping protect neurons and support neurotransmitter activity
Beyond IV use, oral and supplement forms of methylene blue have drawn growing interest as well.
*Mitochondria: small structures within cells that produce the energy the body needs.
Because methylene blue helps protect cells from oxidative stress, it's linked to broader methylene blue health benefits, including support for anti-aging goals and easing feelings of fatigue.
Methylene blue IV therapy has become one option people turn to for brain fog*, fatigue, and dips in physical performance. It's one of a number of IV therapies gaining international attention for cellular-level, whole-body anti-aging care.
*Brain fog: a foggy, unfocused mental state marked by reduced concentration and mental clarity.

Key Features
To help prevent rare but serious methylene blue risks, a G6PD Pre-Screening Test — a quick blood test — is required before your first session. Results come back fast, since it's run on-site with a test kit. With this screening in place, BIANCA CLINIC provides methylene blue IV therapy with careful attention to safety.
Beyond brain-health concerns like performance and brain fog, bring up anything on your mind about how you're feeling, physically or mentally. Your treatment plan is built around your lifestyle, working from the inside out to support the beauty and health that are already yours.
Beyond methylene blue, your physician can walk you through options like high-dose vitamin C IV therapy, peptide therapy, and orthomolecular nutritional therapy, matched to your goals. Whether you just want the basics or the specifics on pricing and pacing, ask — the explanation goes as deep as you want it to.

FAQ
Is methylene blue IV therapy painful?
You may feel a slight pinch when the IV needle is inserted. Some people also feel discomfort along the vein; adjusting the drip speed can help ease it, so please let our staff know right away.
Can I notice a difference after just one session?
Methylene blue effects and how they’re perceived vary by individual. Some of our patients receive methylene blue IV drips on an ongoing basis, about once every two weeks to once a month.
Is it true that urine or stool changes color after methylene blue IV therapy?
Yes — it’s true. Your urine, sweat, or stool may temporarily turn blue to green after treatment. If anything about it concerns you, ask your physician.
Are there methylene blue contraindications — people who shouldn't receive this treatment?
Yes. Methylene blue IV therapy isn’t available to people with G6PD deficiency, those taking antidepressants such as SSRIs or SNRIs (a known methylene blue drug interaction), those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with severe kidney impairment.
Can this be combined with other IV treatments?
Yes, it can be combined with other IV treatments. That said, certain combinations may not be suitable depending on your health or medications — ask your physician for specifics.
What's the difference between methylene blue IV therapy and taking it as a supplement?
An IV delivers methylene blue directly into the bloodstream; a supplement is taken orally.Because the body processes each differently, which one makes sense depends on your goals and condition.
Why is a blood test required before treatment?
To check for G6PD deficiency, which carries a risk of hemolytic anemia, and to determine whether the treatment is appropriate for you.
Can I get this treatment the same day, without an appointment?
Same-day treatment is sometimes possible, depending on availability, but it isn’t guaranteed — it also depends on whether the preparation is in stock. If you’ve been searching for “methylene blue IV near me” during your stay in Tokyo, we recommend booking online or by phone in advance to secure a consultation and treatment slot.
Treatment Details & Important Safety Information
The formulation is dissolved and administered into either arm over approximately 30 minutes.
Depending on your condition and treatment plan, treatment may be continued approximately once every two weeks to once a month.
Possible treatment-related effects include discomfort when the IV needle is inserted and bruising around the treatment site.
Some clients may also experience discomfort along the vein during the infusion. Other possible effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or abdominal pain, and temporary symptoms such as headache, dizziness, or a rise in blood pressure.
Urine, stool, or sweat may temporarily appear blue to green for several days after treatment. During treatment, methylene blue may cause falsely low pulse oximeter (SpO2) readings, and there is a risk of extravasation (leakage of the solution outside the vein).
Methylene Blue IV Drips are not provided to clients with G6PD deficiency, those taking certain antidepressants such as SSRIs or SNRIs, clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with severe renal impairment.
Possible methylene blue drug interactions should be reviewed with your physician before treatment. A G6PD blood test is required before the first treatment.
