Treatment details: Volnewmer (Face, Submental), HIFU (Ultracell Zi, Face, Submental)
Two energy devices were used in the same session because they heat different depths. Volnewmer works through radiofrequency across the dermis, and HIFU with Ultracell Zi delivers focused ultrasound to the deeper fascial layer, so combining them tightens both the skin surface and the support beneath the jawline. Neither requires needles or incisions and the patient returned to normal activity the same day. This photograph is one month after treatment. Part of the change comes from immediate tissue contraction and part from collagen that continues to form, so the contour was still improving when this image was taken and reaches its final state at around three months.
Monopolar radiofrequency leaves the face and neck warm and pink for a few hours, with mild puffiness the same evening. Tenderness on pressure, transient numbness, or a tingling feeling along treated lines can last several days. Burns and blistering are rare when cooling and skin contact are maintained. Loss of facial fat has been reported when energy is excessive. Firmness builds over about three months, varies between individuals, and repeat sessions are needed to hold it.
Focused ultrasound is felt as brief heat or a deep prickling during delivery, and aching of the jaw and neck may continue for one to two weeks. Small welts, bruising, or patchy numbness along the treatment lines usually resolve within a month. Nerve irritation causing temporary weakness of the lower lip, and volume loss where fat is thin, are uncommon. Lifting develops gradually, differs from person to person, and does not last indefinitely.
