Treatment details: VASER Liposuction (Posterior Axilla, Upper Arms)
The upper arms and the fat pad behind the armpit were treated as one unit, since removing arm fat while leaving the posterior axilla creates a step at the boundary. VASER ultrasound loosens fat before removal, which allows a smoother result in an area where the skin is thin and irregularities show easily. Marking was done with the arms both raised and lowered to check the contour in each position. This photograph is three months after surgery. Compression sleeves are worn for several weeks to help the skin retract, and the outline continues to refine for up to six months.
Arms and the area behind the armpit feel bruised and sore, similar to heavy exercise, for one to two weeks, with swelling that fluctuates for a month or more. Numbness and firmness under the skin are common and soften slowly. Compression sleeves are worn as directed. Rippling, dents, asymmetry, or loose skin can remain where elasticity is limited, and a further session may be considered. Seroma, burn from ultrasound energy, and infection are uncommon. Clots and fat embolism are rare.
