This patient trained regularly but the definition of the abdominal muscles stayed hidden under a thin, even layer of fat.
Abdominal etching removes fat selectively. We map the borders of the rectus muscles and the tendinous lines on the standing patient, then use VASER to loosen fat and suction along those lines while leaving fat over the muscle bellies. What emerges is the patient’s own muscle structure, not a shape we impose.
At one month the vertical midline and the transverse lines are visible and the flank is tighter.
The result depends on the muscle underneath. We do not perform this on patients who have not built the structure first, because there is nothing for the etching to reveal.
Swelling and bruising last two to four weeks.
A compression garment is worn for about one month.
The area feels firm or lumpy for one to three months.
Temporary numbness of the abdominal skin is common.
Irregularity, asymmetry, or over-defined grooves can occur and may require correction.
Definition softens if body fat increases afterward. The result depends on maintaining weight and training.
Small scars remain at the incision points.
Infection, seroma, and hematoma are uncommon.
