Treatment details: Tattoo Removal (Back)
A tattoo on the back in this size range needs a course rather than a single session, and the interval between sessions matters as much as the energy used. The pigment is broken into particles small enough for the body to clear, and that clearance takes weeks. This three month photograph shows the fading achieved so far, with the skin texture preserved. Dense inks and large areas need more sessions than patients expect, and the interval matters because the lymphatic system needs time to clear each round of fragmented pigment. Sun protection between sessions is not optional.
Immediately after each pass the skin whitens, then reddens and swells for a day or two, and blisters, pinpoint bleeding, and crusts can form and take one to two weeks to heal. The treated skin may end up lighter or darker than the surrounding skin, which can take months to even out. Several sessions spaced weeks apart are required, and green, light blue, and some cosmetic pigments respond poorly and may not clear. Scarring is rare. The area is kept covered from sunlight throughout.
