Treatment details: Silicone Implant Breast Augmentation (Motiva, 185 cc)
A 185 cc implant is at the smaller end of the range and was chosen from the chest width and the thickness of the overlying tissue rather than from a target cup size. Selecting an implant wider than the chest base is what produces an obviously operated look. At one month the implant is still descending into position and the upper pole fullness will continue to soften. In a patient with thin soft tissue cover, visibility of the implant edge along the upper border is the main constraint on size, and that is what set the ceiling in this case.
A smaller implant still requires a pocket to be created, so tightness, swelling, soreness, and bruising are expected for one to two weeks, and exercise is limited during that period. The upper breast looks fuller at first and softens over three to six months. Capsular contracture, rippling that is more visible in thin tissue, implant displacement, rupture, infection, altered nipple sensation, and asymmetry can occur and may lead to further surgery. Lymphoma associated with implants is very rare.
