Doctor's Comments

This patient wanted more volume in the upper part of the breast while keeping a natural slope.

We selected the implant size and shape from her chest width, skin thickness, and the amount of her own breast tissue, then placed it under the muscle through an incision in the inframammary fold.

The photo shows one week after surgery. At this stage the implant still sits high because the muscle is tight and swelling remains. This is the normal course. Over the next two to three months the implant settles downward and the upper slope softens into its final shape.

Patients often worry when they see this early stage. We explain the timeline before surgery so the first weeks are easier to get through.

Risks & Side Effects

Pain and tightness across the chest are strongest for the first three to five days.

Swelling and bruising continue for two to four weeks.

The implant sits high at first and settles over two to three months.

Capsular contracture, where scar tissue tightens around the implant, can occur months to years later and may require revision surgery.

Asymmetry, rippling, and changes in nipple sensation are possible.

Infection and hematoma are uncommon but may require additional treatment.

Implants are not lifetime devices. Replacement may become necessary in the future.
