Treatment details: PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Platelet rich plasma is prepared from the patient’s own blood drawn at the start of the visit, concentrated, and injected back into the skin so that the growth factors it contains stimulate repair. Because the material is autologous there is no question of allergy or foreign body reaction, which is why it suits patients who are cautious about injectable products. This photograph is two weeks after treatment. The response develops over weeks rather than appearing immediately, and a course of sessions produces more change than a single visit. Mild swelling on the day of treatment is expected and settles overnight.
Platelet rich plasma is prepared from the patient’s own blood, so the arm used for the blood draw can bruise or feel sore. At the treated area, swelling, redness and pinpoint bruising last two to three days, and the skin can feel tight or itchy. Small lumps at the injection points are uncommon and settle. Change appears slowly over one to three months, differs between individuals, and a course of sessions is usual. Infection is rare. Results are not permanent.
