Treatment details: Hyaluronic Acid Injection (Under Eyes)
Hyaluronic acid was placed in the region under the eyes to address hollowing that created a shadowed appearance regardless of makeup. This area demands restraint: the skin is among the thinnest on the face, and overfilling produces puffiness that looks less natural than the original hollow. Material was placed deep, against the bone, rather than superficially where it can show through the skin. One month allows early swelling to resolve fully, so the photograph reflects the true correction. Bruising is common here and can take up to two weeks to clear. The effect is not permanent and typically lasts around a year.
Hyaluronic acid under the eyes swells more, and for longer, than in other areas, so puffiness lasting two to four weeks and occasionally several months should be expected. The thin skin bruises readily and may reveal the gel as a bluish shade, the Tyndall effect, or as a ridge that can be felt. Water attracted by the gel can cause delayed swelling. Any of these can be reversed with hyaluronidase. Vascular occlusion near the eye is rare and serious.
