Hyaluronic acid placed in the temples and deep cheek sits close to important vessels and nerves, so bruising, tenderness, and swelling for several days are usual and pressure sensitivity can last longer. Product may be felt as a firm area, shift slightly with facial movement, or look bluish through thin skin, an effect known as Tyndall. Asymmetry is reviewed and adjusted later. Vascular occlusion with skin damage or loss of vision is rare, and hyaluronidase is kept for emergency use.
The skin beneath the eyes is thin, so pinpoint bruising after injection is common and can take one to two weeks to clear, and morning puffiness may appear during that period. Small raised areas or slight unevenness can be felt for a few weeks. Differences between the two sides sometimes need a further session. Collagen is absorbed within months, so the change is temporary. Infection and lasting nodules are uncommon at these small volumes.
