Juvederm VOLBELLA was selected for its fine particle size, which allows definition along the lip border without the firmness that heavier products can leave. Volume was kept modest and placed to follow the patient’s existing lip proportion rather than to change it. This photograph is ten days after injection, later than the usual immediate image and more informative for that reason, since almost all swelling has resolved by this point and what is visible is close to the settled result. Small areas of firmness that can be felt during the first week have generally softened by now. Full integration takes about two more weeks.

The lips look considerably fuller and firmer than the final outcome for the first two or three days because of swelling, and bruising at the entry points is common. Herpes simplex may reactivate in those prone to it. Uneven fullness or a small palpable lump can occur while the gel settles and can be adjusted after two weeks. Vascular complication is rare in the lip but requires prompt hyaluronidase. Volume tapers over roughly six to nine months.
