Treatment details: EmbraceRF (Face), Liposuction (Submental), Thread Lift (BIANCA LIFT), Morpheus8

Fullness and laxity under the chin were treated in one operation. Fat was removed from the submental region, FaceTite applied radiofrequency beneath the skin to contract the fibrous layer, six BIANCA LIFT threads repositioned the cheek, and Morpheus8 remodelled the surface. Removing fat without tightening leaves loose skin in patients whose elasticity has reduced, which is why the energy devices were included rather than offered later. The photograph is three months after surgery. Skin retraction continues past this point, so the jawline sharpens further over the following months. Numbness under the chin is common in early recovery and resolves gradually.

Risks & Side Effects

Radiofrequency is delivered under the skin through a fine probe, so the face swells and bruises for one to two weeks and numbness of the treated area can last several months. Firm cord like areas and lumpiness are felt while the tissue remodels and soften over two to three months. Tiny entry points leave small marks. Burns at the skin surface are rare but possible, as are asymmetry and tightening that falls short of what was hoped, which may call for a further procedure.

Under the chin, swelling and bruising are heaviest in the first week and a compression band has to be worn as instructed. Numbness and a pulling sensation when turning the head are common and fade over one to three months. Hard patches under the skin can persist and need massage. Contour irregularity, unevenness between the sides, or loose skin where elasticity is limited may remain and require correction. Fluid collection and infection are uncommon, and serious events such as clot formation or fat entering the circulation are very rare with a small volume.

Thread placement adds its own swelling and a drawn feeling that lasts about two weeks on top of the other procedures. Puckering of the skin over the barbs is visible at first and usually smooths out. Mouth opening is limited for a few days. Threads may be palpable, the lift can settle unevenly, and in rare cases a thread has to be taken out because it is exposed or infected. The threads dissolve, so the support they give reduces after about a year.

Morpheus8 drives fine needles into the skin with radiofrequency, leaving a grid of pinpoint marks, redness and swelling for two to four days and small scabs that flake off within a week. The skin feels dry and rough for a while. Darker skin types carry a higher chance of pigmentation after the inflammation settles, so sun protection is required. Small burns or track marks are rare. Several sessions are usual and the change in firmness develops over about three months.
