Doctor's Comments

After pregnancy and breastfeeding the breast tissue here had descended and the nipple sat below the fold. Volume was adequate. Position was the problem.

A mastopexy removes the excess skin envelope and moves the nipple and areola up onto the reshaped mound. No implant was used and no tissue was removed beyond the skin.

This photo is six months after surgery. The breast sits higher on the chest and the nipple points forward rather than down. Scars have already faded to a pale line by this stage.

Patients often assume an implant is needed to correct sagging. When volume is sufficient, a lift alone gives a more natural result and avoids the long-term maintenance an implant requires.

Risks & Side Effects

Swelling, bruising, and tightness last two to four weeks.

Scars are permanent. They run around the areola and vertically below it, and take about a year to fade.

Nipple sensation may be reduced or lost.

Breastfeeding may be affected.

Asymmetry in breast shape or nipple position can occur and may need revision.

Sagging can recur over time with weight change, pregnancy, or aging.

Infection, hematoma, and delayed wound healing are uncommon.
