Treating the forehead, glabella, crow’s feet and the area above the eyebrows together allows the doses to be balanced against one another. Relaxing the forehead without addressing the muscles that pull the brow downward can leave the brow sitting lower than before, so the units above the eyebrows were adjusted with that in mind. Allergan botulinum toxin was used throughout. The photograph at one month shows the fully developed effect, which typically peaks around two weeks and holds for three to four months. Expression is preserved rather than removed. Mild asymmetry occasionally appears as the effect settles and can be adjusted at review.

Small bruises, pinpoint redness, and tenderness at the injection points clear within a few days. Over the first week expression softens across the treated zones, and some people notice a heavy brow, a mild headache, or slight unevenness of the eyebrows while the effect distributes. Treating around the eyes can briefly change the shape of the smile or leave the lower lid feeling different. Drooping of an eyelid is uncommon and temporary. Movement recovers in three to six months.
