Treatment details: Baby Collagen (Under Eyes), Juvelook (Full Face), Rejuran, Rejuran i (with Botox), Botox Injection (Forehead, Glabella, Bunny Lines, Crow’s Feet: Allergan), Hyaluronidase

This was a comprehensive session covering volume, skin quality and muscle movement. Hyaluronidase was used first to dissolve previously placed material before anything new was introduced, since injecting over an existing product without assessing it leads to unpredictable results. Baby Collagen then addressed the under eye, Juvelook and Rejuran worked on skin quality across the face, and botulinum toxin was placed at the forehead, glabella, bunny lines and crow’s feet. Sequencing matters when this many treatments are combined. The image is immediately after the session, and the regenerative components develop over four to six weeks from this point.

Risks & Side Effects

Baby collagen is placed into the thin skin below the eye, where bruising is common and can take one to two weeks to fade. Swelling, tiny bumps and slight unevenness are usual in the first days and settle as the material spreads. Placed too close to the surface it can leave a pale or bluish tinge known as the Tyndall effect. Collagen is not dissolved by hyaluronidase, so unevenness is corrected by massage or time. Results fade over several months.

Juvelook stimulates collagen over the following months, so the change is gradual and varies between individuals. Redness, small bumps at the injection points and bruising settle within a few days. Papules or firm nodules can appear weeks later, particularly where the material sits close to the surface or in thin skin, and these may persist and need injection of steroid or minor treatment. The polymer component is not dissolved by hyaluronidase. A course of sessions is usual and results are not permanent.

Rejuran uses polynucleotides derived from salmon, so it is avoided in anyone with a known fish allergy. Multiple shallow injections leave visible bumps for several hours to a day, with redness, itching and pinpoint bruising that clear within a few days. Tenderness on touching the treated skin is common overnight. Skin quality changes slowly across a course of three or four sessions, and the degree of change differs from person to person. Infection at the injection points is rare.

Around the eye the skin is thin, so the small bumps left by Rejuran i can stay visible for up to a day and bruising is more likely than elsewhere on the face. Mixing a small dose of botulinum toxin softens fine movement lines, and this component can cause temporary heaviness of the lid, uneven expression or a slight change in the smile if it spreads, resolving as the toxin wears off over about three months. Repeat sessions are needed.

Botulinum toxin in the forehead can lower the brow and leave the upper lid feeling heavy, while treatment between the brows carries a small risk of eyelid droop that lasts some weeks. At the crow’s feet the smile may look slightly uneven; at the bunny lines the toxin can spread to nearby muscles. Headache, pinpoint bruising and tenderness are usual in the first days. Muscle action returns over three to six months, so repeat injection is needed.

Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid filler, and it also acts on the hyaluronic acid naturally present in the tissue, so the area can look flatter or slightly hollow for a week or two before it recovers. Swelling, redness and itching at the treated points are common on the day. Allergic reaction is uncommon and severe reaction is rare. The amount dissolved is not fully controllable, more than one session may be required, and collagen based products are unaffected.
