Firm filler in the chin holds its shape and can be felt as a hard area under the skin for several weeks, which is expected. Swelling and tenderness settle within a few days, and bruising along the jaw takes about a week to clear. Slight asymmetry or an edge that stands out may need a small adjustment. Nodules and infection are uncommon, and vascular events at the chin are rare. The projection softens over roughly a year.
Under the eye the skin is thin, so bruising is frequent and swelling can persist for one to two weeks before the shape can be judged. Placement close to the surface may show as a ridge, a lump, or a Tyndall style bluish shadow, and correction is sometimes required. Right and left often settle at different speeds. Infection is uncommon. The material is absorbed within months, so the improvement is temporary.
Treating the masseter and temporalis reduces bite strength, so chewing tough food feels harder for two to four weeks and a hollow may appear at the temple. Chin injection can make the lower lip feel stiff. Neck treatment occasionally causes neck weakness or a heavy feeling when lifting the head, and discomfort on swallowing is rare. Injection points bruise or ache briefly. Muscle bulk returns as the effect fades over three to six months.
