Doctor's Comments

The profile showed a prominent bump on the nasal bridge and a tip that pointed downward. Together they made the nose look longer and more severe from the side.

We shaved the dorsal hump to straighten the bridge line, then narrowed and lifted the tip cartilage. The two steps have to be planned as one. Lowering the bridge without adjusting the tip leaves the nose looking flat, and lifting the tip alone makes the hump stand out more.

At three months the bridge runs straight and the tip sits at a natural angle to the upper lip. The nose now sits in balance with the brow and chin rather than drawing attention on its own.

Fine swelling at the tip continues to resolve for up to a year, and the outline will sharpen slightly further.

Risks & Side Effects

Swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose are strongest in the first week.

A cast is worn for about one week after surgery.

Numbness at the tip may last several months.

Fine swelling at the tip resolves slowly, over six months to a year.

Asymmetry, irregularity of the bridge, or a visible step can occur and may need revision.

Nasal obstruction or changes in breathing are possible.

Infection, bleeding, and delayed healing are uncommon but reported.
