Hi, Sara here. A treatment I see different patients are opting for in autumn season is laser! Especially pico toning and pico focus.

Fall is actually a great time to consider pico laser treatments. As summer UV exposure can increase pigmentation and sunspots, fall is ideal for addressing skin concerns like pigmentation, dullness, and uneven tone that may have intensified over the summer.

The cooler, less sunny weather of fall also helps protect your skin as it recovers, since minimizing sun exposure after laser treatments is essential for optimal results and preventing post-treatment pigmentation. Moreover, starting treatments in the fall allows time for the skin to rejuvenate before the winter and holiday season.

Pico toning is a laser treatment that gently targets the skin at a low output to gradually break down and remove melanin, reducing pigmentation and dullness to give the skin a clear, porcelain-like radiance. Compared to traditional Q-switched laser toning, it delivers high efficacy with fewer sessions, while minimizing skin burden and downtime.

Pico toning for pigmentation utilizes advanced laser technology with high melanin absorption, targeting melanin with shockwaves instead of heat to break down pigment. This precision allows for effective treatment of pigmentation, dullness, uneven tone, and freckles, with a gentle impact on the skin. It provides a groundbreaking whitening effect that surpasses that of traditional toning treatments.

Additionally, pico toning enables the treatment of melasma, which was previously challenging with conventional lasers. Melasma can darken with strong stimuli, so traditional laser treatments often avoid treating these areas. However, by using low-output, short-duration laser pulses, pico toning can remove melanin without the risk of aggravating melasma. Besides facial pigmentation and freckles, this treatment can also address darkening around the areola.

At our clinic, we have established the BIANCA METHOD with our Pico Focus (Pico Fractional) treatment, which combines toning and fractional modes to comprehensively address concerns like pigmentation, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and acne scars. PicoSure allows for fractional laser delivery, which traditionally involved CO2 fractional lasers that created numerous tiny openings on the skin’s surface, leading to scabbing, rough texture, and a downtime of about a week. PicoSure’s Pico Focus (Pico Fractional) uses high-density laser to create tiny vacuoles within the epidermis through shockwaves, promoting collagen and elastin production in the dermis without injuring the skin’s surface. This improves wrinkles, acne scars, and pore size.

Pico toning is suitable for those with limited downtime, as it causes only mild redness that lasts approximately 24 hours, with minimal impact on daily life. There is no scabbing, making it ideal for those who cannot take extended time off work. This treatment is less painful and a great option for those who found traditional fractional lasers too painful. With regular sessions, it effectively addresses fine lines, pore size, and skin texture, improving wrinkles and sagging over time.

Our pigmentation laser treatments are performed with PicoSure, developed by Cynosure, a leading U.S. medical laser company. PicoSure was the world’s first FDA-approved medical picosecond laser, delivering pulses 1,000 times shorter than the nanosecond lasers previously considered standard. (Nanosecond: one billionth of a second; picosecond: one trillionth of a second.) The shorter pulse duration significantly reduces thermal impact on the skin, enabling pigment removal through shockwaves. PicoSure is FDA-approved for removing pigmentation such as spots, freckles, ADM, and improving fine lines and acne scars. It is a highly effective laser with minimal skin burden and downtime, addressing superficial pigmentation and rejuvenating the skin from within.

During consultations, we use the high-performance skin analysis device “VISIA” to create a personalized treatment plan and conduct detailed analyses before and after treatment.
