VASER Liposuction (Upper Arms and Behind Underarms)

This patient could not lose the fullness of her upper arms through exercise. The area behind the underarm was part of the same problem: fat there spills toward the back and makes the arm look thicker than it is.

We treated the arm and the area behind the underarm in one session. VASER uses ultrasound to loosen fat before suction, so the tissue comes out more evenly and the skin retracts better afterward.

At three months the arm line runs straight from shoulder to elbow, and the bulge at the back of the underarm is gone. Clothing with a fitted sleeve now sits differently.

Treating the arm alone often leaves a step at the underarm, so we plan these two areas together.

Swelling and bruising last two to four weeks.

A compression garment is worn for about one month.

The area feels firm or lumpy for one to three months as it softens.

Temporary numbness of the skin may continue for several weeks to months.

Irregularity, asymmetry, or loose skin can occur, particularly when skin elasticity is reduced.

Small scars remain at the incision points.

Infection, seroma, and hematoma are uncommon but possible.

Final contour takes three to six months to appear.
