Ten ARTEMIS threads were placed through small entry points at the temple, with the barbed section engaging the tissue that had descended and anchoring it in a higher position. The mesh design of this thread holds across a broader area than a single strand, which suits laxity that is diffuse rather than concentrated at the jawline. Lift is visible at the end of the procedure, as shown here. Over the next two to three months collagen develops along the threads and sustains the position as the material absorbs. Chewing tough food and wide yawning are limited for the first two weeks.

Threads are passed under the skin, so swelling, bruising and a tight pulling feeling are expected for one to two weeks and can make wide opening of the mouth uncomfortable. Small dimples or puckering appear at the entry and anchor points and usually flatten as the tissue relaxes. The threads can be felt through the skin for a time, and the two sides may lift unequally. Infection or a thread working its way out is rare and may require removal. The lift fades over about a year.
