Two mechanisms were combined here. Baby Collagen addresses the quality and support of the under eye skin, while botulinum toxin relaxes the muscles that fold the skin at the outer eye, the mouth corners and the forehead. Treating only one leaves the other visible: filling a hollow does nothing about a dynamic crease, and relaxing muscle does nothing about lost tissue volume. Nabota was used for the toxin component. Dosing at the mouth corners is deliberately light, since this area affects the smile and is easily treated too heavily. The photograph was taken on the day of treatment, so none of the toxin result is present in it yet. Toxin effect appears over three to seven days and is established at two weeks.

Injection into the lower lid area commonly leaves a bruise that takes a week or two to clear, along with light swelling for the first few days. Small nodules at the puncture points can be felt briefly. In such thin skin, material left too superficially can appear as a faint bluish Tyndall type mark. Collagen does not respond to hyaluronidase, so corrections rely on time. The change to the skin is gradual and needs repeating every three to six months.

Small bleeding points and short lived swelling at each injection are usual, and a headache can follow forehead treatment. Weakening the forehead muscle can make the brows sit lower and the lids feel heavy, especially where the skin is already lax. At the corners of the mouth the lip may feel odd or the smile look uneven for a few weeks. Crow’s feet treatment can alter the shape of the smile. Movement returns after three to six months and repeat injection is required.
