Tone continues to even out across successive sessions rather than after one, and the result depends on consistent sun protection between visits.

Pico toning is felt as a series of hot pinpricks, leaving faint redness and a warm flush that settles within a few hours. Pigment breaks up gradually, so patches lighten across a series rather than after one visit, and some can return. Whitening dots, small crusts, or a temporary spotted pattern occasionally appear. Worsening of melasma, lightening of normal skin, and blistering are uncommon. Daily sun protection is required through the course.

Injected along the treatment map, the solution raises temporary blebs that settle within a day, with pinpoint marks, tenderness, and bruising for two to three days.
