Nasolabial folds are usually a symptom rather than the problem itself, which is why VOLUMA XC was used here. It is a supporting gel with high lift capacity, placed deep so the fold softens as a consequence of restored support rather than by packing filler into the crease. Injecting the fold line directly tends to produce a ridge that becomes obvious when the patient smiles. The image is from immediately after the session. Mild swelling and small firm areas at the injection points are normal for several days, and the result looks most natural once the gel has integrated at around two weeks.

Filler in this fold can be felt as a soft band for the first weeks and part of it tends to drift upward with smiling over the following months, so the correction may look different from side to side. Swelling, bruising and tenderness settle within about a week. Lumps that persist can be smoothed or dissolved. The artery running beside the nostril makes occlusion a rare but serious possibility, marked by pain, pale skin and later ulceration, and it is treated urgently.
