Two weeks is the point at which this treatment should be assessed: the injection swelling has resolved and what remains is the material that has integrated. The hollow under the eye is filled and the step between the lower lid and the cheek has softened. Baby Collagen suits this site because it does not hold water the way hyaluronic acid does, so it will not swell in the morning. Patients who have had hyaluronic acid under the eye before tend to notice this difference in the morning, when a water binding gel can look puffier than it did the night before.
Expect bruising, tenderness, and swelling for several days. The thin skin under the eye holds fluid, so the appearance at two weeks reflects the actual result rather than that of the first few days. Product placed too close to the surface can look lumpy or carry a faint Tyndall blue cast. Asymmetry between the sides may call for a small top up. Infection is uncommon. The material breaks down over months and sessions are repeated to maintain the improvement.
