Hi! This is Dr. Yuki. Do you care about your hair? As for me my grandpa is kind of, or obviously bald. So I take medicine daily for precaution.
Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), commonly known as male or female pattern baldness, is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It’s primarily driven by genetics and hormones, particularly the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). In men, AGA typically presents as a receding hairline and thinning on the crown, while women often experience a more diffuse thinning across the scalp.

The causes of AGA are mainly genetic, meaning if your parents or grandparents had it, you’re more likely to develop it. Hormones also play a crucial role, with DHT being a key culprit. DHT shrinks hair follicles, leading to thinner and shorter hair, and eventually, the follicles may stop producing hair altogether.

Fortunately, there are effective treatments available. Medications like Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride (Propecia) are commonly used to slow down hair loss and promote regrowth. Minoxidil is a topical treatment that works by stimulating hair follicles, while Finasteride is an oral medication that reduces DHT levels in the scalp.
