Hybrid Breast Augmentation (Silicone Implant + Condense Rich Fat)

This patient wanted a clear increase in size while keeping the breast soft to the touch and free of a visible implant edge.

An implant alone gives reliable volume but can show its outline in a patient with thin tissue. Fat alone feels natural but does not deliver this degree of size increase in one session. The hybrid method uses an implant for volume and a layer of the patient’s own fat over it to soften the transition at the upper border.

At six months both components have settled. The upper slope runs smoothly into the chest wall with no step at the implant edge, and the tissue feels soft.

Fat is harvested from the abdomen or thighs during the same operation, so the donor area is contoured at the same time.

Pain, swelling, and bruising affect both the breast and the fat donor site for two to four weeks.

Part of the grafted fat is absorbed over the first three months.

Capsular contracture around the implant can occur months to years later and may require revision surgery.

Oil cysts or calcification can form in the grafted fat and may appear on future mammograms. Tell any radiologist that fat grafting has been performed.

Asymmetry, rippling, and changes in nipple sensation are possible.

Infection and hematoma are uncommon but may require additional treatment.

Implants are not lifetime devices. Replacement may become necessary in the future.
