The patient presented with a concern regarding submental fullness (double chin). We performed submental liposuction under intravenous sedation, combined with EmbraceRF to enhance skin tightening and contouring. Additionally, a single session of Morpheus8 (small face set) was carried out to further improve skin quality and jawline definition. Post-procedure, a facial compression band was provided to support tissue adaptation and reduce swelling. The patient was prescribed Tranilast for one month to minimize fibrosis, and Saireito for seven days to reduce postoperative swelling. Overall, the procedure was completed without complications, and the patient tolerated the treatment well.
Although submental liposuction combined with EmbraceRF and Morpheus8 is generally safe when performed by an experienced surgeon, there are potential risks that should be noted. Common postoperative effects include swelling, bruising, and temporary numbness in the treated area. There is also a possibility of contour irregularities, asymmetry, or skin laxity if the skin does not retract evenly. Infection and hematoma are rare but possible, and scar tissue formation may occur beneath the incision sites. In some cases, prolonged firmness or lumpiness can persist for several weeks. While nerve injury is uncommon, temporary changes in sensation along the jawline or neck may be experienced. As with any procedure involving thermal devices such as EmbraceRF and Morpheus8, there is a small risk of burns, pigmentation changes, or prolonged redness. Careful adherence to postoperative instructions, including compression garment use and prescribed medications, can help minimize these risks and promote optimal healing.
