The patient has been engaging in consistent exercise and dietary control, but reports persistent fat retention in the abdominal region.

Objective Findings:

No history of abdominal surgery

History of natural childbirth

Good skin tone and elasticity in the treated areas

Procedure Performed:

CRF fat grafting to the buttocks (BBL)

Liposuction performed using VASER technique on:

Upper and lower abdomen

Flanks (love handles)

Lower back

A total of 320cc of purified fat was injected subcutaneously into each buttock

General anesthesia was administered

No intra-muscular injection; fat was placed strictly in the subcutaneous layer for safety

The patient tolerated the procedure well. Postoperative care instructions, including compression garment usage and activity limitations, were provided.

Risks & Side Effects

CRF buttock augmentation using your own fat is a popular procedure that enhances the shape and volume of the buttocks. However, like any surgical procedure, it carries certain risks.

One of the most serious potential risks is fat embolism, which occurs when injected fat accidentally enters the bloodstream and travels to the lungs or other vital organs. This can be life-threatening. At BIANA CLINIC, the injection is performed strictly in the subcutaneous layer, not into the muscle, and ultrasound guidance is used to significantly reduce this risk. Nevertheless, it cannot be entirely eliminated.

There is also a possibility that some of the injected fat may not survive and become necrotic. Necrotic fat can lead to lumps, infection, or in some cases, cause an unusual odor often referred to as “BBL smell.” In such cases, antibiotics or minor surgical drainage may be required.

Swelling, bruising, and pain are common in the early recovery period. Some patients may also experience temporary numbness or changes in sensation in the areas of fat removal or injection, which typically improve over several weeks. However, in rare cases, these symptoms can persist longer.

The amount of fat that successfully remains in the body after injection varies by individual. As a result, volume loss or asymmetry may occur over time. In such cases, additional fat grafting or revision procedures might be needed.

Other possible complications include hematoma (bleeding under the skin), seroma (fluid buildup), and infection. Depending on the condition, additional medical intervention may be required.

Lastly, because this procedure uses VASER liposuction, it is important to note that while it allows for precise fat harvesting, skin irregularities or uneven texture may occasionally appear in the treated areas.
