Doctor's Comments

Left image: Before treatment / Right image: 6 months after

The patient presented with significant breast asymmetry, with the left breast demonstrating both greater volume and ptosis. To address this, a bilateral mastopexy was performed using the McKissock technique, with minimal lifting on the right side and no volume reduction on the left. A new nipple position was marked 17 cm from the midclavicular point, with a 5 cm diameter areola. The distance from the new nipple to the inframammary fold was set at 7 cm. Skin excision was performed while preserving the dermis at the new nipple site to maintain vascular integrity. The procedure was completed with layered closure using 2-0 and 3-0 Vicryl for deep layers, 4-0 PDS for subcuticular suturing, and 6-0 nylon for the skin. A Penrose drain was placed for postoperative drainage. After a healing period of 3 to 6 months, volume correction with CRF fat grafting will be planned to further refine symmetry.

Risks & Side Effects

Breast lift surgery, while generally safe and effective, carries potential risks as with any surgical procedure. Common concerns include scarring, which may vary depending on the individual’s healing ability and skin type. Some patients may experience temporary or prolonged changes in nipple or breast sensation. There’s also a possibility of asymmetry, especially in cases where there was a pre-existing difference in breast shape or size.

Infection, bleeding, and delayed wound healing are rare but possible complications. In some cases, there may be dissatisfaction with the cosmetic outcome, which could require revision surgery. Additionally, although rare, issues related to anesthesia may occur during the procedure. Proper post-operative care and following medical instructions closely can significantly minimize these risks.
