Hello! I am Airi Yokoyama, a cosmetic surgeon and dermatologist. Extremely popular at Bianca! The “ADVATx Laser,” which has been fully booked every day since its introduction in September. I previously introduced a beginner’s guide to what kind of treatment it is. You can read it here: https://biancaclinic.jp/blog/44639/ This time, we focus on treating capillary dilation (such as the little squiggly veins around the nose) using ADVATx. We will also introduce Bianca’s unique treatment method.
1. What is the ADVATx Laser?
ADVATx is the latest laser device that can switch between two wavelengths—589 nm and 1,319 nm—from a single handpiece. It can approach both the surface and deeper layers of the skin, and it is FDA and CE approved. The characteristics of each wavelength are as follows: ★ 589 nm (yellow) Targets redness, blood vessels, and inflammation. Common concerns treated:
- Red face
- Acne and acne scars
- Telangiectasia (spider veins)
- Senile hemangioma
- Melasma
- Pigmentation
★ 1,319 nm (infrared) Promotes collagen regeneration, controls sebum, and tightens the skin. Common concerns treated:
- Enlarged pores
- Lack of firmness
- Fine wrincles
- Acne
- Skin texture improvement
By combining these two wavelengths, it is possible to simultaneously improve redness and achieve overall skin rejuvenation.
2. Is it the same wherever you go?
This is the most important point I want to convey! Advatx is not the same everywhere!! This applies not only to Adova but also to any laser treatment. Factors such as wavelength, output, number of shots, and application method—all these matter. Who applies it and how—it greatly affects the results. At BIANCA, we perform customized laser treatments for each individual using methods we have refined through trial and error.
3. What is customized laser treatment?
Customized laser treatment is an optimized, tailor-made treatment method designed based on your specific skin concerns and skin type. This approach allows for a higher level of efficacy compared to applying the laser in the same way on everyone. As the first step, it is essential for a doctor to thoroughly and accurately assess the patient’s skin. In some clinics, counselors may propose treatment plans while doctors barely see the patients. In such cases, the suggestions or diagnoses may not be accurate. At BIANCA, doctors carefully examine the skin, and when necessary, use skin diagnostic devices to incorporate objective indicators. As part of our clinic’s treatment menu, we evaluate each time whether to use: – One wavelength or two wavelengths – Whether to include Doctor irradiation Currently, we use two wavelengths in almost all cases. (Honestly, regarding this, using two wavelengths works for anyone.) For acne, post-acne pigmentations, telangiectasia, and hemangiomas, we highly recommend combining Dr. irradiation after applying the two wavelengths. For hemangiomas and telangiectasia, sometimes you can see them disappear immediately with Dr. irradiation (though it depends on the case). Once the wavelengths and the inclusion of Dr. treatment are determined, the doctor sets the treatment area, output, and number of shots for each wavelength on each occasion. Based on those instructions, experienced nurses who have undergone extensive training perform the irradiation.
4. What are those squiggly lines around the nose?
If you stretch under the nose, don’t you see squiggly blood vessels? I started noticing them on my face after introducing Advatx .lol These squiggly lines are called “telangiectasias.” They are harmless, but they can be a concern. In some people, they can also appear on the cheeks. The amazing thing about Advatx is that it can safely treat these vascular lesions with minimal pain and low downtime and risk. This treatment is done with Dr. irradiation. It requires a bit of skill, so it’s a chance for the doctor to demonstrate their expertise. Most people notice results even after one session, but for more lasting effects, about three sessions are recommended.
5. Advantages of ADVATx
- Short downtime (as described below)
- Minimal pain (no anesthesia needed)
- Suitable for a wide range of skin types
- Can address multiple concerns simultaneously
6. About Downtime
A major feature of the ADVATx laser is that there is almost no downtime. However, it is not completely “zero,” and the following reactions may occur after treatment:
- Redness: disappears within a few hours to the next day
- Warmth: mild heat sensation for a few hours
- Swelling or itching: in rare cases, may persist for a few days
When a spot treatment by a doctor is combined, redness may last for several days, but it is not enough to significantly restrict daily activities. It can likely be covered with concealer.
Key Points
- Makeup is possible from the day of treatment
- Sun protection and moisturizing are essential
- It is recommended to schedule treatment about a week before an event rather than immediately before
Summary The ADVATx laser is a cutting-edge skincare laser that “has almost no downtime and effectively addresses multiple concerns simultaneously.” The results can vary greatly depending on where and how the treatment is administered. At BIANCA, we provide fully customized treatments tailored to each individual’s skin. If you are interested, please feel free to schedule a consultation. We warmly welcome consultations even without undergoing treatment.
