Because the lower lid holds little tissue between skin and muscle, bruising is common and can take two weeks to fade, and swelling may look worse in the morning. Material placed near the surface risks showing as a ridge or as the bluish Tyndall effect, which can be revised. Small differences between the eyes are frequent early. Vessel involvement in this region is exceedingly rare but treated urgently. The result diminishes as the product resorbs.
Around the eyes, softening the muscle can leave the lower lid lines looking slightly different when smiling, and in rare cases a dropped brow or heavy lid follows forehead treatment. Bruising at the outer corner is common because vessels are superficial there. Movement of the forehead is reduced, so raising the brows may feel restricted for a period. Onset takes several days and the action fades over three to six months, when repeat injection is needed.
