FAQ

Q How is medical art makeup different from tattoos?
A

Medical art makeup differs from tattoos in that it gradually fades over time. Tattoos deposit pigment into the deeper dermis, making them semi-permanent, while medical art makeup deposits pigment into the more superficial epidermis, where natural skin turnover causes it to fade gradually.

Q How long does medical art makeup last?
A

The effects typically last about 1 to 3 years. Longevity varies depending on skin type and skincare habits. Retouching before the pigment fully fades helps maintain a beautiful appearance.

Q Can I come with makeup on the day of the procedure?
A

Yes, you may come with makeup on. While makeup in the treatment area will be removed, seeing your usual makeup helps us better understand your desired design and finish. If you have requests such as “I want it to match my usual look” or “I want a finish that looks natural even without makeup,” please let us know in advance.

Q Is medical art makeup painful?
A

We use topical anesthesia to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Although individual sensitivity varies, clients often describe the feeling as a “slight prick” or “gentle pressure.” If you feel pain, additional anesthesia can be applied during treatment. If you are worried about pain, please let us know during the initial consultation so we can make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Q Is there downtime or swelling after medical art makeup?
A

Redness or swelling may occur for several days up to a week. It is important to keep the treated area clean during downtime. Since UV rays, sweat, and friction can irritate the area, please avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or hot springs for a while.

Q When can I wear makeup after medical art makeup?
A

You may apply makeup to areas other than the treated site from the same day. However, please refrain from applying makeup directly on the treated area for about one week.

Q Are there cases where medical art makeup cannot be performed?
A

Yes. Depending on your health condition, treatment may not be possible. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with infectious diseases or chronic illnesses, or those with allergies may be refused treatment for safety reasons. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, please consult with our doctors or staff during the pre-treatment consultation.
