FEATURES

  • What is Pico Spot?

Pico Spot is a treatment method that uses picosecond (one trillionth of a second) laser light—even shorter than the conventional nanosecond (one billionth of a second) laser—to destroy melanin pigment that causes spots and freckles. Pico laser treatment is suitable for relatively large spots with clear boundaries, tattoo removal, and permanent makeup removal. Since the laser can be directed precisely at the areas of concern, pico laser results can be expected with fewer treatment sessions.

  • Reduced Skin Damage and Lower Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

The device BIANCA CLINIC uses for Pico Spot treatment is PICOSURE®, developed by Cynosure, a leading company in medical lasers. While standard medical lasers previously operated in nanoseconds (one billionth of a second), PICOSURE® delivers laser light in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second), which is 1/1000 shorter. The shorter irradiation time reduces thermal damage to the skin, minimizing strain.

The melanin pigment pulverized by laser irradiation becomes waste and is absorbed by the body. The smaller the pulverized pigment, the easier it is for the body to absorb, so how finely it can be broken down is key. Pico laser treatment can break down pigment much more finely compared to conventional laser treatments. Therefore, it offers high treatment effectiveness and is associated with a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

  • PicoLaser Can Address Various Skin Anxieties with Different Irradiation Modes

The medical laser device "PicoSure®" can address various skin anxieties beyond Pico Spot by using different irradiation modes.

    [Pico Spot]
Irradiates laser light on specific spots or birthmarks to break down melanin pigment. Suitable for dark spots, birthmarks, and tattoo removal.

    [PicoToning]
Irradiates low-power laser light over a wide area to gradually break down melanin pigment. Suitable for light spots and melasma treatment.

    [PicoFractional]
Irradiates spot-like laser into the epidermis to improve skin texture. Expected to be effective for a wide range of skin concerns such as pores and acne scars.

While Pico laser is strongly associated with Pico Spot spot removal treatment, there are three modes: Pico Toning for approaching light pigmentation such as melasma, and Pico Fractional for skin texture improvement. Depending on the patient's skin condition, we may combine these modes—for example, applying Pico Spot to dark spots after several PicoToning treatments have lightened melasma, or conversely, performing PicoToning after Pico Spot.

  • Downtime after Pico Spot Treatment

Redness may appear for several hours after treatment, and spots may temporarily darken for several days.

  • Anesthesia

Topical anesthesia is applied. Individual responses vary, but some people feel a mild pain like being flicked with a rubber band during treatment. The laser output can be adjusted according to your preferences, so please consult us in advance if you're concerned about pain.

  • Aftercare

Makeup can be applied from the day after Pico Spot treatment. Aftercare is also important following Pico Spot. To reduce the risk of pigmentation, try not to irritate the treated area. Be careful not to rub when washing your face or applying skincare products, and be sure to moisturize properly. Sun exposure on the treated area can also cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, so adequate sun protection is essential.

FAQ

Q Will spots and freckles become less noticeable after one Pico Spot treatment?
A

While it depends on the condition of spots and freckles, some people do see them lighten after one treatment. It's a procedure that can achieve high therapeutic pico laser results with fewer treatments.

Q What is the interval between Pico Spot treatments?
A

Re-treatment is possible after an interval of 3-6 months or more.

Q Is Pico Spot effective for melasma?
A

Pico Spot is not effective for melasma, and treating melasma areas with Pico Spot may worsen the condition. For melasma, we recommend treatments such as Pico Toning according to your condition. Please consult with us during your consultation.

Q Can moles be removed with Pico Spot?
A

Not all moles can be removed. While thin, flat moles may possibly be removed with Pico Spot, for raised moles, there are several methods including CO2 laser removal or surgical excision. Since the appropriate treatment varies depending on the nature of the mole, please consult with us during your consultation.

Q Is there downtime with Pico Spot?
A

After Pico Spot, a thin scab forms on the treated area and peels off in about 1-2 weeks. Tape protection is not necessary, but you may use tape protection for larger spots if you wish.

Q Is Pico Spot painful?
A

Pico Spot irradiation involves a popping, snapping pain. Topical anesthesia is used during treatment, but if you're concerned about pain, please discuss it during your consultation.

Q When can I apply makeup after Pico Spot?
A

Makeup can be applied from the day after Pico Spot treatment.

Q Will there be swelling or redness after Pico Spot treatment?
A

Redness and swelling may occur for several hours after Pico Spot. Also, spots may temporarily darken for several days, but will gradually settle.

Q Are there any precautions before and after Pico Spot treatment?
A

Please avoid excessive sun exposure for 1 month before Pico Spot treatment, and avoid actions that may irritate the area, such as hair removal, for 2 weeks before and after. Especially during periods when redness is noticeable, avoid skincare with irritating ingredients such as retinol or hydroquinone. After Pico Spot, thoroughly protect against UV rays with sunscreen to reduce the risk of pigmentation.

Q When can I take a bath or shower after Pico Spot?
A

From the same day.

Q When can I exercise after Pico Spot?
A

From the day after. Please avoid intense exercise, saunas where you might sweat heavily, etc. on the day of treatment.

Q When can I drink alcohol or smoke after Pico Spot?
A

From the day after. Please avoid drinking and smoking on the day of treatment.

Q Are there any side effects with Pico Spot?
A

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and recurring spots at the treatment site are possible.

Q Can I receive Pico Spot treatment if I have a suntan?
A

If you have been sunburned within the past 4 weeks, you cannot receive treatment.

Q If no scab forms after Pico Spot irradiation, does that mean the treatment failed?
A

There are cases where treated areas do not form scabs. The reasons may include inappropriate laser output or a type of spot that doesn't form scabs. If the output was weak and no scab formed, the spot may still gradually lighten even without scab formation, so please observe the progress of the treated area. Also, please consult with your physician about the treatment plan for the second and subsequent treatments.

Q What is the difference between Pico Spot and Pico Toning?
A

Pico Spot is a treatment method that concentrates high-power laser on spots or birthmarks you want to remove. In contrast, PicoToning is a treatment method that irradiates low-power laser over a wide area to gradually reduce melanin. The appropriate approach differs depending on the condition of spots and skin, so please consult with us during your consultation.
