Hi, this is Dr. Yuki.
Lying-ear deformity is a condition where the outer ear, or auricle, bends backward excessively and folds too closely against the head, often with a prominent antihelix. Traditionally, this deformity has required complex surgical procedures performed by experienced surgeons, along with a lengthy recovery process.

However, a new and simplified technique using hyaluronic acid (HA) injections offers a promising alternative. This minimally invasive procedure has shown significant improvements in ear shape and facial aesthetics with fewer risks and a quicker recovery time.

The Auricular Injection Technique: A New Treatment for Lying Ear.
Chen, Chao-Yang MD1, et al.

In a study involving 20 patients, multiple injections of HA were used to reshape the outer ear. Results showed a notable improvement in key measurements, such as the auriculocephalic and conchoscaphal angles, both of which increased significantly post-treatment. Six months after the procedure, patients reported high satisfaction, with visual analog scale scores improving dramatically. Importantly, there were no serious complications like infection or embolism, highlighting the safety and effectiveness of this technique.

Overall, the HA injection method for lying-ear deformity offers an excellent non-surgical option for patients, with quick, satisfying results and minimal downtime.
