About the techniques listed on this page:
Skin Only: The skin alone is separated from the tissue beneath it and lifted. The excess skin is removed.
SMAS Plication: The SMAS, a layer of muscle and connective tissue beneath the skin, is folded and tightened with stitches, without being cut.
SMAS Flap: The SMAS is cut and separated from the tissue beneath it, raised as a flap, then pulled upward and secured.
Deep Plane: The tissue is separated in the layer beneath the SMAS, and ligaments are released as needed. The skin and SMAS are then repositioned as a single unit.
