Treatment details: Tattoo Removal (Hip)
Picosecond laser was used on the hip, where the skin is thicker and tolerates treatment better than exposed sites such as the hand or the ankle. Pigment is fragmented into particles fine enough for the body to remove, and clearance continues in the weeks between sessions, which is why intervals are spaced rather than compressed. Two months separate the session shown here from this picture. Professional ink placed deeply requires a course rather than a single visit, and colours other than black respond at different rates. The treated area is kept covered from sunlight throughout to prevent pigmentation change in the surrounding skin.
Each laser session leaves the treated skin white for a short time, then red, swollen and sore for two to three days. Blisters and scabs can form and take one to two weeks to heal; picking at them raises the chance of a mark remaining. The treated skin may end up lighter or darker than the surrounding area for months. Clothing rubs the hip, so dressings and loose wear are advised. Several sessions spaced weeks apart are needed and some ink can remain.
