Lips swell noticeably for two to four days after filler and can feel firm or uneven while settling, and bruising is common. Injection may reactivate cold sores in people who carry the herpes simplex virus, so this is reported in advance. In the midcheek groove the product can look puffy in the morning or spread slightly, and lumps or asymmetry sometimes need adjustment. Vascular occlusion is rare but requires urgent treatment. Results soften over six to twelve months.
Threads produce a pulling sensation for one to two weeks, with swelling and bruising near the entry points at the temple. Dimples or small folds at the anchoring sites usually flatten as swelling resolves. The two sides can heal at different rates and look uneven for a time. A thread that stays palpable, migrates, or causes irritation may have to be removed, and infection is uncommon. Support decreases over about a year as the threads absorb.
