The injection was placed to enhance the shape already present instead of altering the lip outline. This photograph is taken immediately after the procedure, and the lip appears fuller now than it will once swelling resolves. Most of that reduces within two days. Patients are advised to avoid heat, alcohol and vigorous exercise on the day of treatment, as all three increase bruising in this region.

Lips swell more than any other area, and the first two or three days can look fuller and uneven before settling. Bruising, tenderness and difficulty with fine mouth movement are usual early.
