Lip filler fails when the volume is placed without regard for the existing proportion between the upper and lower lip. Juvederm VOLIFT was selected for its softness, which lets the lip stay mobile and natural in movement rather than looking set. The result seen here is immediately after treatment, and a small amount of the fullness is early swelling that will settle over the following days. Lip tissue swells more than any other filler site, so the result is assessed at two weeks rather than at one. Bruising at the injection points is common and covers easily with makeup.

On the day of treatment the lips are swollen and firm, and the outline can look uneven until this eases over four to five days. Bruising and tenderness are common, and eating or drinking may feel awkward at first. Reactivation of herpes simplex is a known trigger in carriers. Once settled, palpable lumps or a difference in volume between the sides can be refined at review. Blockage of a lip artery is rare and treated urgently.
