Restylane Lyft was selected for the chin because it holds its shape under the pull of the mentalis and does not spread laterally, which is what allows a chin to gain projection without widening. Placement was deep, on the bone, in a single column rather than spread through the soft tissue. The picture was taken before the swelling had gone, so a small part of the projection in it belongs to the tissue rather than to the gel. Chin filler shows its final contour quickly compared with other areas, though mild firmness at the injection point is normal for several days. Patients are asked not to massage the area, since the gel is intended to stay in the pocket where it was placed.

A firm gel is placed deep on the chin, so the area feels hard to the touch for two to three weeks before it softens. Swelling and bruising settle within a few days, and tenderness when pressing the jaw is common. The projection can look slightly off center, and a small top up or dissolving may be requested. Product can shift over months. Rare vascular events cause pain and skin color change and are dealt with immediately. The correction lasts around a year.
