Treatment details: EmbraceRF (Face), Morpheus8 (Submental), Liposuction (Submental)
The face and the submental area were treated with different tools in the same session because they present different problems. EmbraceRF works across the face for skin tightening, while under the chin the fat itself needed removing before any tightening would show. Morpheus8 was applied to the submental skin to remodel it from the surface once the volume had gone. Combining them avoids the common outcome where a treated jawline is defined but the skin above it stays lax. This photograph is at one month, when swelling has largely settled but the collagen response is still building. Tightening continues to develop through the third month.
Radiofrequency delivered beneath the skin leaves the face swollen and firm for one to two weeks, with bruising along the entry points and patchy numbness that can last one to three months. Bands or nodules may be felt during healing and generally soften with massage. Burns, small entry point scars, or pigment change are uncommon when temperature is monitored throughout. Contraction continues for three to six months, and the degree of tightening differs between individuals.
Microneedling with radiofrequency leaves a grid of pinpoint marks under the chin along with redness and swelling for two to five days, plus light crusting at the needle sites. Temporary tenderness, dryness, or a bruised feeling is common. Pigment change is more likely in darker skin or without sun protection, and rarely a burn, a tracking mark, or a small scar can follow. Several sessions spaced a month apart are usual, and firming builds over about three months.
Removing fat under the chin produces swelling, bruising, and numbness that peak in the first week, with a chin strap worn as directed. Firmness, small hollows, or an uneven surface can be felt for two to three months as tissue settles, and skin lacking elasticity may not redrape fully. Seroma, infection, or lasting induration are uncommon. Asymmetry occasionally needs a further procedure. Fat embolism and clot formation are rare but serious complications of any liposuction.
