Injection was kept to a single millilitre across both sides, which is less than patients often expect. In the lower eyelid the amount that looks correct at the time of treatment is usually more than the amount that looks correct once swelling has gone, so restraint at this stage prevents a heavy result later. Baby Collagen was chosen for its softness and because it integrates without the water retention seen with hyaluronic acid in this region. Nothing has settled yet in this picture. What is visible now includes injection swelling; the settled appearance is assessed at the two week review.

The lower lid is thin and well supplied with vessels, so bruises form easily and may take up to two weeks to fade, and swelling behaves similarly. While the material integrates, the surface can feel slightly uneven or show a bluish Tyndall tone if placement is shallow, both of which can be revised. Small differences between right and left are common at first. Damage to a vessel is very unusual. Volume declines steadily and repeat sessions are needed.
