Combining these two operations is practical rather than merely convenient. Etching the abdomen produces a large quantity of fat that would otherwise be discarded, and processing it by the condensed rich method concentrates the usable portion for transfer. Placement in the buttock is layered at several depths so that each parcel of fat sits close to a blood supply, because fat injected in a single mass tends to die at the centre. This patient needed height at the upper buttock and fill at the hip depression rather than overall size, so the volume was distributed unevenly on purpose. Sitting directly on the graft is restricted during the first weeks. At three months the retained volume is stable and further change is unlikely.

Abdominal etching leaves swelling, bruising and numbness across the treated wall for several weeks, and a compression garment must be worn as instructed. Because fat is taken selectively along the muscle grooves, visible unevenness, firm areas, or grooves that read as too deep are recognised outcomes, and skin that retracts poorly may stay loose. Fluid collection, bleeding and infection are uncommon. For the buttock transfer, part of the grafted fat is absorbed and projection may reduce, while oil cysts, hard lumps, calcification or asymmetry can develop at the recipient site. Fat entering a vein during injection is rare but serious, which is why placement is kept out of the deep muscle. Sitting is limited during early healing.
